An unfinished business

This is fiction. And short.

Chapter 1 –

He was smart, handsome and possibly well-educated. At least, he looked the part. She, on the other hand, was even smarter, even prettier and even well-educated. And no, she did no’t just  look the part. She played the part, she lived the part.

Chapter 2 –

One night, when the rest of the world had retired to bed, he strolled along the street, careful not to make any noise. Soft drops of water were beginning to trickle down his face. Was it raining, he wondered, looking towards the sky? How foolish, indeed. It was too dark to see anything. It was his sweat – he was afraid, was he? Or, excited?

Chapter 3 –

He walked towards the door, slowly climbing along the steep stairway. Still darkness spread around him. He looked around, as if someone was watching him. Alas, it was too dark and he knew he was safe. If he couldn’t see them, they couldn’t see him either.

Chapter 4 –

He turned the doorknob, gently, knowing full well that the slightest screech of the door would wake her. He didn’t want that. If it happened, his plan would backfire. He let the lighter gleam.

Chapter 5 –

There she lay, on the couch, fast asleep. What a beauty, she was. Her skin, a magnificent dull gold. Her lips quivered slightly and he stepped back. Was she awake? No! It that is not possible. Minutes slipped by. He dared not move. He held his breathe. She turned, gently. The curtain hanging on the half open window, danced to the tune of the soft nights winds blowing through it.

Chapter 6 –

He trembled. He did not want to do this. This was beyond him. Never in his life had such dreadful thoughts crossed his mind. He re-assessed the situation, which he had anyway done a million times over. He recalled their last words, “Will you kiss me again?” she had asked. His reply was simply, “A million times over”. It was just days after this that they ended things.

Chapter 7 –

He gathered up courage. He had no choice. It was his obsession. He could not give it up. “I WANT, I WANT, I LOVE”, he nearly screamed.

Chapter 8 –

Slowly, he moved towards where she lay and gently bent over her…

Chapter 9 –

She gave a soft cry.

Chapter 10 –

“Cut!” yelled the director. “This story is not going anywhere. We need NEW IDEAS PEOPLE!”

(OK, so I didn’t quite know where this story was heading. Scanned my brain for a twist at the end, but couldn’t quite think of one. Will update it if and when a new idea pops up)

  1. Chavie says:

Guy leaves letter that he’s leaving the country under her pillow? 🙂

But you’re writing again, I like!

  2. The Womanist says:

Thanks.. And, that’s a thought. Initially, I was looking for something a little err.. scary… but err… light.. 🙂

  3. Chavie says:

Guy puts hands over womans eyes and screams in a mock scary voice: “Guess who? muhahaha!” 😀

And then proceeds to propose to her… 😀

  4. The Womanist says:
